WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
— A portal that connects health care providers, patients and patients’ doctors has been a hit in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The WSPD Portal connects more than 100 doctors and nurses with more than 1,400 patients and their families via email, text, phone and in person.
The portal has been viewed more than 10 million times on Facebook.
WSPDs portal is one of the first to connect patients to their primary care physicians, as well as their other providers, for patient information and referrals, according to the portal.
“I really believe in it,” said Dr. Kevin Johnson, president of the West Palm Center for Healthcare Delivery.
“We want to be a one-stop shop, where patients can come and go and get the best care possible.
We are a community hub, and we are connecting the people who have the most to us.”
Johnson said the portal has created a connection between doctors and patients.
“The first thing we were able to do was connect a couple of our nurses with patients,” he said.
“And the nurses have been really happy with that.
And now, we have to do the same thing with our physicians.”
Johnson and other WSPd staff members are working to open more portals in other parts of the state.
“Right now we have two in Palm Beach County, and then the other two in West Palm Beach County,” he added.
“It’s really a matter of getting the right portals and having the right people in place.
We need to be sure we have the right staff in place and the right processes in place.”
